Cydia Apps are 3rd party iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch apps that can be installed outside the Apple app store. In fact, these apps are a great addition to the Apple app store apps, as they bring countless new features for the iDevices, which are unavailable or restricted by Apple. A thorough explanation can be found here.

Cydia apps download is not considered as piracy, as jailbreaking is legal and all the apps are created by developers for distribution within Cydia. These apps are also known as jailbreak apps because it is only available on jailbroken iDevices, and it is the first app ever installed on a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

In order to download Cydia apps for free you have to jailbreak your iDevice using one of the tools available. You can find documentation on how to do that by visiting our many blog posts.

Once you finish the jailbreak process you’ll see a new icon on your desktop called Cydia. Downloading and installing is quite easy, and resembles the Apple app store process.

Cydia comes by default with a database of apps and tweaks, but you can add many more by adding more sources. A source or a repository is an URL that gives you access to all the these apps provided by a developer or a group of developers. You can find a list of the most used repositories right here on ZOYYA.

Some of the best Cydia apps can improve your iDevice’s functionality beyond imagination and it would be a shame if you don’t try them at least once. Like in the Apple app store, you’ll find free and paid Cydia apps and you’ll find that in some cases, if you really need a functionality like blocking calls or improving the notification center it is imperative that you jailbreak your iDevice and install a this app.

This is just a short review, you should now check out all the best Cydia apps download articles posted here on ZOYYA to discover some of the many tweaks that will take your iDevice out of the ordinary.

It looks like the most popular jailbreak tool has been updated again. The guys from iPhone Dev Team have just released a few hours ago Redsnow 0.9.10b8b to the general public. Unfortunately Redsnow 0.9.10b8b didn’t bring the most awaited feature- untethered jailbreak support.

There is no doubt that the iPhone Dev Team is definitely the most serious, hardworking and reliable jailbreak development teams of all. From the very first jailbreak these guys have worked hard and have released a Redsnow tool in just hours after the official iOS release from Apple. Redsnow 0.9.10b8b brings only some small bug fixes and minor improvements like it will make the .zip files more compatible with the default Windows Explorer.

The Mac version of Redsnow 0.9.10b8b doesn’t have any notable changes. Also there is no need for a new tutorial because the steps are basically the same, it’s just a newer Redsnow version. Therefore if you want to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with the latest Redsnow version navigate to our complete step by step guide posted here for more information.

Earlier today Pod2g, a very popular jailbreak community member, announced via Twitter that a new iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak might rise up at the horizon. It looks like the jailbreak universe is working continuously and with Pod2g now back into the action things are heading fast to develop the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.

For those of you who don’t know, Pod2g joined forces with the Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team back in January in order to develop the untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 5.0.1 for the A5 based iDevices. It looks like now the history may repeat. Pod2g said that they have all the exploits required to develop the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak and that they are working to bypass ASLR at bootup. For newbies, ASLR stands for address space layout randomization and it was first added in iOS 4.3 by Apple.

For the moment we don’t have an exact release date of the upcoming untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 and it’s also very hard to estimate one. However Pod2g’s announcement is very encouraging for all of us who are waiting for the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak. Let’s just hope that Apple doesn’t block the attempts to jailbreak once again by releasing a new version of iOS.

Until iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak is released to the general public you can tether jailbreak your iDevice with the latest versions of the most popular jailbreak tools: Redsnow or Snowbreeze.

I will present you in this short article a simple how to guide about how to boot your iDevice into the tethered using iBooty 2.3 for iOS 5 and iOS 5.1. For those of you who don’t already know if you have a tethered jailbreak on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and you run out of battery you will then need to boot into the tethered state with iBooty 2.3 for iOS 5 / 5.1 (depending of your iOS version). Basically if you have a tethered jailbreak try not to run of out battery ever, because every time it turns off you will have to boot it again back into the tethered state with iBooty 2.3.

A while ago Apple released iOS 5.1 version which unfortunately at the moment can be jailbroken only tethered which means iBooty 2.3 is a must for all of you jailbreakers. You can jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with Snowbreeze 2.9.2 or Redsnow 5.1. We have some detailed tutorials that will be of great help.

Now let’s start the simple 4 step guide about how to boot your iDevice into the tethered state with iBooty 2.3 for iOS 5 / 5.1.

Step 1: Launch iBooty and select your iDevice from the list available in the right bottom corner.

Step 2: Hit the Start Option.

Step 3: iBooty 2.3 will require DFU mode so follow the on-screen instructions in order to achieve that.

Step 4: Sit back and relax while iBooty 2.3 for iOS 5 / 5.1 boots your iDevice into the tethered jailbreak state again. You will be prompted with a message when the process is complete.

Congratulations. You’ve successfully booted your iDevice into the tethered state with iBooty 2.3. Remember that you will have to redo all the steps above each time your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch runs out of battery life.

Ever since the release of the iPhone 4S back in October last year the people in the jailbreak community have struggled install Siri on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad and iPod touch. For those of you who have lived in a cave until now, Siri is an intelligent assistant software and most likely the best and most innovative feature so far of Apple’s iOS platform. After you manage how to install Siri on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad or iPod Touch your life will become much easier as this software is capable to accomplish multiple tasks given to it through a simple voice command. Among many other things Siri can set up meetings in your calendar, can read and send text messages, can check the location of your friends or even pull a weather forecast for your.

There are multiple options at the moment about how to install Siri on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad or iPod Touch, but probably the most popular one is the Spire tweak from Cydia. The catch with Spire is that it only provides the Siri GUI and it fully relies on a running proxy server. It also requires real data from a registered iPhone 4S to function which is a bit tricky. A well known team in the jailbreak community, i4Siri, announced that they might have the solution for this by making available to the general public the i4Siri servers and also you don’t need to have a registered iPhone 4S anymore.

Now let’s proceed with the simple tutorial about how to install Siri on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad and iPod Touch:

Step 1: Start Cydia and install the Spire app tweak.

Step 2: Once the installation is complete head on to General > Siri in your Device settings and make sure the toggle is set to ON.

Step 3: Select Spire from the root of the Settings menu and in the Spire settings menu and enter in the proxy URL field https://i4sirifree.mooo.com/

Step 4: Launch Safari Mobile and navigate to http://i4siri.com/installcertificate.html

Step 5: Install the certificate.

Step 6: Activate Siri and make a request.

Congratulations. You have successfully managed to install Siri on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad or iPod Touch.

Note: You need to have a jailbroken iDevice in order to install Siri on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, iPod Touch. You can jailbreak iOS 5.1 with the latest version of Redsnow, however it’s only a tethered version for the moment.

Good news for Snowbreeze jailbreak tool fans, ih8snow has just released Snowbreeze 2.9.2, an updated version of his famous tool which brings semi untethered jailbreak support for iOS 5.1 running on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. For those of you who don’t already know iOS 5.1 has closed the jailbreak exploit used by Absinthe and Corona tools.

For the moment Snowbreeze 2.9.2 is only a tethered jailbreak option and it’s also limited to A4 processor based iDevices, meaning you won’t be able to jailbreak iPad 2, iPhone 4S or iPad 3. The tethered nature of the Snowbreeze 2.9.2 jailbreak tool means that every time your device is powered off and your turn it back on you will need to reboot into the jailbroken state. I know it’s a little annoying, but if you love all those tweaks from Cydia and you can’t stay apart of them then you will settle with this jailbreak option for the moment.

Requirements for the jailbreak procedure:

Download iOS 5.1 IPSW

Download Snowbreeze 2.9.2

micro-USB cable

Follow the tutorial below in order to jailbreak iOS 5.1 on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch using Snowbreeze 2.9.2:

Step 1: Launch Snowbreeze and click on the bottom right blue arrow to continue.

Step 2: Browse and select the iOS 5.1 IPSW file that you’ve previously downloaded.

Step 3: Select “Simple Mode” or if you plan to unlock your iPhone 4 then select “Expert Mode”.

Step 4: Select “Build IPSW” and hit the blue arrow.

Step 5: Wait until Snowbreeze finishes the process of building the custom IPSW.

Step 6: Follow the on-screen instructions and put your device into DFU mode.

Step 7: You now need to load the custom created IPSW on your iDevice. With your device still in DFU mode open iTunes and click on the device name from the left side bar. While holding down the Shift button hit the restore option. Browse and select the custom IPSW previously created by Snowbreeze. The device will now be loaded with a jailbroken firmware.

Congratulations. You have successfully jailbroken your iDevice by using Snowbreeze 2.9.2.

A tethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is already available, but I, like many other people, just hate to redo the jailbreak each time I reboot my iDevice, so I will be waiting for the untethered update.

Well, there are some good news about this, and it looks like we will be able to jailbreak ios 5.1 untethered very soon.

We only have some screenshots at this time, but it looks like there are already 3 exploits available, each of them independent of each other and discovered by different people. This is a first in the jailbreak history.

All the major league players (iPhone Dev Team, I0n1c and chpwn ) have discovered an exploit and now it’s just a matter of time until the new jailbreak will be released. They also discovered that these exploits will work on the new iPad, which means that we will be able to view Cydia on the brand new Retina display powered by the new A5x dual-core processor.

For the time being if you really need to jailbreak your iDevice you can use Redsnow for 5.1, and if you don’t manage you can find a guide right here on Zoyya.com.

iOS 5.1 just arrived along with the release of the new iPad 3, and it brings some cool new features along with some important bug fixes, but the question is: can we jailbreak iOS 5.1 ?

Well, work already started, but it looks like many of the recently discovered exploits won’t work anymore and the jailbreak devs need to find new ones.

So if you want to jailbreak ios 5.1 then I suggest that you don’t update your iPhone 4S, 4 3GS or iPad / iPod Touch just yet, especially if you are an unlocker because there is no ETA for the release at this time.

So let’s take a quick tour and see which are the latest jailbreak tools that work for iOS 5.0.1, and should also be able to jailbreak 5.1 in the near future.

Well, we have the veteran Redsnow, which has been present in the jailbreak scene for years. Redsnow is currently based on the Corona untether exploit and it is compatible with all iOS versions up to 5.0.1 running on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad and iPod Touch 4G,3G.

The second jailbreak tool, which was released just a couple months ago is called Absinthe, and it is meant for A5 devices, respectively iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

So when a jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is released both Redsnow and Absinthe should get updates, because it is unlikely that a new jailbreak tool will be released, when there is actually no need.

I’d recommend that you bookmark this page because it will be updated with tutorials and download links as soon as a jailbreak for ios 5.1 will be released. There is no ETA at this time but it shouldn’t be long until the jailbreak devs figure things out.

You can use one of the tutorials posted below to jailbreak ios 5.1 running on iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 or iPod Touch:

Jailbreak iOS 5.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G using Redsnow [ Redsnow 5.1 guide ]

It seems that we have another update from Chronic Dev-Team’s famous jailbreak tool Absinthe called Absinthe 0.4 version. For those of you who don’t already know Absinthe tool is can be used to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running on iOS 5.0.1.

If you ask me Absinthe is by far the best jailbreak tool released until now. The guys from Chronic Dev Team did a great job and released a jailbreak tool which gives us the possibility to crack all Apple iDevices running on the latest iOS 5.0.1. Unlike all the previous jailbreak tools released so far, Absinthe was released in an almost perfect version and it has been well-maintained ever since with regular updates in order to constantly improving its performances to ensure us the smoothest jailbreak experience moving forward.

I’ve never seen the jailbreak developers so dedicated with a jailbreak tool release before like they did with Absinthe. They even formed a special team for this tool called the Dream Team and gathered only the cream of the jailbreak universe in order to help Chronic Dev Team to hurry up things and release the tool faster.
